Two Tons of Steel, fronted by Kevin Geil is known for its music called
Countrybilly. Originally based in San Antonio; known as Dead Crickets until 1996, the name change refers to Kevin Geil’s restored 1956 hardtop Cadillac. Other members of the band include: Dennis Fallon, Ric Ramirez, Chris Dodds, and Texas Hall of Famer Steel Guitar player: Denny Mathis. Lead singer/songwriter Geil admits unabashedly admits his songwriting inspiration comes from his wife, Elena.
Two Tons of Steel performs regularly at Gruene Hall, the oldest dance
hall in Texas. Their summer series draws 12,000 fans. In Europe, their shows were sell-outs. They were Texas Music ambassadors to ecstatic fans in Cuba, and have appeared on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry.
Two Tons of Steel sound has been influenced by the musical styles of
Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, The Ramones, Chris Isaac, Elvis Costello
And Johnny Cash. The band combines the unique sounds of roots
Rock and country music with a passionate punch.
