RANDY  TRAVIS

Randy Bruce Traywick was the second of 6 children. His father always
wanted Randy to become a country singer. He bought his four sons
Western outfits and guitars, and filled the house with the sounds of
Hank Williams and Stonewall Jackson. By the time Randy was 10 years
old, he and his brother, Ricky had their own duo, playing throughout the
South at fiddler’s conventions, private parties and VFW halls. Even at
his young age, Randy’s voice startled people with its resonance.

Randy dropped out of school in the ninth grade, and drinking, drugs and
fast cars lead to a series of scrapes with the law. At age 16, Randy entered
a talent show hosted by Country City USA, and won the competition
hands down. He was invited by the owner of the club, Lib Hatcher, to play
regularly at the famed night spot. The stint lasted the better part of five
years. Hatcher became manager of another club, The Nashville Palace,
and Randy worked cooking catfish, washing dishes, and performing on
stage. There he became known as Randy Ray, and his Nashville popularity
grew.

Randy was signed by Warner Bros. Records in 1985, and he became Randy
Travis. Soon it seemed every award in the music business had Randy’s
name on it. During a break from touring in 1991, Randy married his long-
-time manager & friend, Lib Hatcher in a quiet ceremony on the island of
Maui, Hawaii. His record sales are over 25 million, with 22 #1 hits, 6 #1
Albums, 6 Grammy’s, 6 CMA’s, 9 ACM’s, 10 AMA’s, and 7 Dove Awards. Along with his full-time music career, Randy has become an accomplished actor, with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Randy is the rare & lucky man who has been able to make all his dreams come true. Indeed.
