MOONGLOW  ORCHESTRA

Current members of the Moonglow Orchestra include:
L-R top: David Czarnek, Buddy Boehm, Jim Heinsohn and John Glossop.
L-R bottom: David Pavlas, Mike Gest, and Tony Sassi

The Moonglow Orchestra is fronted by Mike Gest and the members are
all talented musicians. The variety of music ranges from ballroom, big
band, jazz, pop rock and country. The band also showcases a great
selection of Latin tunes and rhythms. It all adds up to a great time for
dancing and romancing.

The history of the orchestra dates back to the 1920’s. Lawrence Eckels
of La Grange Texas was the original leader. When he decided to disband,
three of the Blume Brothers took over the reins; and it became known as the
The Blumes Orchestra. Gus Lindemann, who played trumpet with the Blumes Orchestra later acquired the band. Gus enjoyed leading the band for a number of years. He utilized many of the Blumes’ original arrangements;
and introduced newer ones into the mix for an up-to-date sound. Gus’
musical and business style continues to influence the band’s success.

Mike Gest, musician and vocalist with the Gus Lindemann Orchestra
acquired and became the leader of the orchestra in 2008; and the band continues to be one of the most accomplished, successful and popular orchestras in Texas for those of us who love dancing to their music.
